R.L. Adams
Do you have what it takes to rank your site at the top of Google's search results? Have you been frustrated by the level of difficulty posed in competing with other well-established websites for the those coveted first-page listings?
Well, did you know that there are over 200 ranking factors involved in Google's current search algorithm? Yes, over 200. It's certainly no walk in the park. And, depending on where you've been for your information when it comes to SEO, it might be outdated, or just flat-out wrong.
Why is that?
Search has been evolving at an uncanny rate in recent years. And, if you're not in the know, then you could end up spinning your wheels and wasting valuable and precious time and resources on techniques that no longer work.
The main reason for the recent to increase relevancy.
Google's sole mission is to provide the most relevant search results at the top of its searches, in the quickest manner possible. But, in recent years, due to some mischievous behavior at the hand of a small group of people, relevancy began to wane.
The field of SEO has been changing, all led by Google's onslaught of algorithm adjustments that have decimated and razed some sites while uplifting and building others.
Since 2011, Google has made it its mission to hunt out and demote spammy sites that sacrifice user-experience, focus on thin content, or simply spend their time trying to trick and deceive their way to the top of its search results.
At the same time, Google has increased its reliance on four major components of trust, that work at the heart of its search
In this book, you'll learn just how each of these affects Google's search results, and just how you can best optimize your site and content to ensure that you're playing by Google's many rules.
And, although there have been many algorithm adjustments over the years, four major ones have shaped and forever changed the search engine
We'll discuss the nature of these changes and just how each of these algorithm adjustments have shaped the current landscape in search engine optimization.
So what does it take to rank your site today?
In order to compete at any level in SEO, you have to earn trust - Google's trust that is. But, what does that take? How can we build trust quickly without jumping through all the hoops?
SEO is by no means a small feat. It takes hard work applied consistently overtime. There are no overnight success stories when it comes to SEO. But there are certainly ways to navigate the stormy online waters of Google's highly competitive search.
Lift the veil on Google's complex search algorithm, and understand just what it takes to rank on Google searches today, not yesterday.

Adams puts a lot of emphasis on age (how long ago Google first indexed the content), but Google’s Matt Cutts has stated age isn’t a significant factor.
Adams recommends setting up a subdomain at Blogger.com or WordPress.com in addition to your main domain, and posting similar content to it to benefit from the authority of those domains. I've heard that this isn’t valuable because the authority of the domain (Blogger.com or WordPress.com) doesn't greatly benefit the subdomain (yoursite.wordpress.com); see, for instance, the Moz post How to Use Hosted Blog Platforms for SEO & Content Distribution.
Below are my notes.
Core of SEO
Earn Google’s trust.
Analogy: A new business needs to earn a banker’s trust to get a loan.
Pyramid of Trust
• Authority: link popularity
• Age: how long ago Google first indexed your content
• Content: well-researched, well-written
• Relevancy: your content’s relevance to a user’s search
On-Page Content Factors
• quality: word usage, grammar, spelling, length
• research: stats, supporting info, cited sources
• keywords: usage of primary keyword and LSI variations
• engagement: bounce rate, visit duration, interaction
• freshness: recency, validity
Other On-Page Factors
• page title
• meta description
• headings
• page structure
• crawlable
• load time
• URL structure
• mobile-friendly
Juice Transferral Theory
Link juice from Link 1 to Link 2 also includes link juice from all other links to Link 1.
Ranking Factors
• Primary keyword at very beginning of page title is a strong relevancy signal.
• Primary keyword at very beginning of headings is a moderate to strong relevancy signal.
• Primary keyword at very beginning of URL is a moderate to strong relevancy signal.
NAY: Much is repeated over and over... and over so it should be edited and updated. And the charts are too tiny to read so that's a big annoying waste of space.
Great introduction to the ever changing world of Search Engine Optimalisation.
When searching for something how many times do you go past the first page? Probably very rarely. Most people never look past the first page of results so if you need traffic, that is where you want to be. But how do you get there? It changes regularly so it can get overwhelming to figure out what you are supposed to do. That's where this book will help.

The title of the book makes it out to be an entry level guide to the world of search engine optimization. However, it does dig deeper than this. Obviously I knew all the major key concepts: Content Is King, Build Links Naturally, and Format Your Website Correctly...

You can use it like a checklist or a how-to guide.
I do not profess ot be an SEO expert but I find this easy to read and follow and use, much more so than the dozen or so other books I've read on SEO, several of which I struggled to complete as they were that un-engaging a read.
A terrific introduction to SEO. Neither intimidating nor fluff-filled. I'll be checking out other books in the series. Available via Kindle Unlimited.
1.Relevancy
2. Authority
3. Age
4. Content
There are different algorithms implemented to improve the efficiency of Google. Google is not going to give the page rank until we have a relevant content and authority and also age plays major role in giving page ranking. To increase the site's page ranking we need to follow some steps :
--> Build content that has value.
--> Create authority site content.
--> Create links to your content.
--> Develop relationships with bloggers.
--> Engage in real conversations.
Even the site is old or new the content makes more value for the site to increase page ranking, for that we need to build up the site with excellent content.("Content is King").
Authority, if we have more links for the content google trusts the site. And we need to remember that authority is not built over night it may take years but it is worthy.
Creating links is the next step to increase the page ranking. If we consider twitter it has lot a links for the content it has and those are relevant and useful.
Age is not the start time of our domain, age of the site starts on the instance when google makes a site indexed. If a site is having an age of 10 years i.e google indexed that site 10 years ago, that site is golden one.
Very interesting and good book to know about the strategies of SEO.
