10. Addressing The Metaphysics

One thing is for certain, with the arrival of The Flash, the laws of physics in DC's TV Universe (DCTVU) are going to have to be played with. Until now Arrow has been a fairly grounded, "How realistic can we make this?" type of show. But Barry Allen's accident in the lab that fateful night in Central City is about to change all that. Aside from Sebastian Blood's Mirakuru drug, which can give its users super human like abilities, The Flash will be the first character to tear up the old physics rulebook. And it couldn't be more exciting. But the show needs to address the notion that, essentially, magical things can happen to people in the real world. If the idea is to expand the DCTVU in the future in order to include more complex and sci-fi based characters, the world will have to be open to more than just human vigilantes in disguise, but full blown metaphysical human wonders. Currently in Arrow, Barry remains in a coma after his accident. True to comic book form he has been doused in an array of chemicals after being struck by a bolt of lightning during a very serious storm, which happened simultaneously as a Star Labs' particle accelerator was experiencing a meltdown. The pieces are in place to explore Barry as the first metahuman, we'll just have to wait and watch how it's executed.
