I wish I could tell her now, that's things aren't that bad
That we still get 3 meals in a day, even if it's not as good, even if we're sad!

I wish I could tell her, that laundry still gets done,
That bathrooms still get cleaned,
That all gadgets still run!

I wish I could tell her how dearly we miss her, but life goes on
I pray that she knows now that world stops for nothing, even with her gone!

The crabs have a tendency to pull down their own kind.
When a crab tries to leave the vessel in which a
group of crabs have been placed, the remaining crabs
physically force it back down, making sure that it never
leaves the cage. Sadly, several people (including me)
have observed similar tendencies among women,
mostly professionally, but sometimes even on a
personal level.

WHAT CONSTITUTES AS A FAILURE?

My closest friend worked day and night, with every
ounce of sincerity she could manage, to heal,
to relieve pain, and partly to please her idols.
She looked up to them, and wanted to be like them.
They always loved her, they praised her skills and
appreciated her work-ethic, they stood by her
quarrels and brought her food, they made her feel
welcome, and didn’t let her leave. UNTIL she had
outdone them, one day she was better, more efficient,
and more resourceful, and more skilled than they were.

UNREASONABLE

Are my battles futile,
My struggles are in vain ??
My pain baseless and misplaced,
My acts in shame?

Are my opinions too strong,
Unwomanly and wrong?
Should I pretend to be weak,
Like the majority of the womankind meek?

BRIDE-A-THON #2

She wasn’t an ordinary woman,
how could she have been an ordinary bride!

She was one of the strong ones,
with her taekwondo black belt and stuff.
She was one of the smart ones, with the
street sense of a regular feminine Indian
warrior. She was studying to be a doctor.

As a species, Indian brides come across as extremely boring!
Unlike their male counterparts, they follow a typical wedding
routine of getting ready for hours, followed by standing on
stage for hours, followed by getting ready for hours,
followed by standing on stage for hours.

For a moment there, yes, I became obsessed with what
I thought was rightfully mine but was taken away from me.
The problem with this attitude was that it was flawed
at it’s very core.

It just didn’t work out, no matter how
hard I tried. Months of effort, years of
resilience and ounces of mental energy
and faith also failed to accomplish my
ultimategoal in life. I thought was
